KHQS Quilting Adventures with Caryl Bryer Fallert

October 1-3, 2008
Bryerpatch Studio, Paducah, KY

In 2008 Quilting Adventures will travel to Caryl Bryer Fallert’s studio in Paducah, Kentucky for three days of intense design work with Caryl. She has room for 20 students in the studio; so if you are interested, reserve your spot in the workshop early.

Caryl Bryer Fallert is internationally known for her award-winning art quilts, which are easily recognized by their luminous colors and illusions of light, depth and motion. Her attention to detail has earned her a reputation for fine craftsmanship, as well as, stunning designs. Recently Caryl’s quilt, Corona 2: Solar Eclipse, was voted one of the hundred most important quilts of the 20 th Century. Caryl has won Best of Show in 16 national and international exhibitions, and in 2002 was included in the 30 most influential quiltmakers in the World.

Caryl loves sharing what she has learned with students in her workshops and lectures, which have taken her to eleven countries on five continents. Her goal as a workshop leader is to help each student find the key to her/his personal creative style.

The goal of this studio class, Beyond the Grid: Personal Expression with Innovative Techniques, will be for each participant to design and create a full size original art quilt which goes beyond the traditional grid format. You may come with a design idea in mind, or you can plan to develop a new idea in the class. The focus will be on techniques for finding inspiration and developing original designs. Design exercises will be geared toward developing your personal visual vocabulary and translating your inner vision into viewable form. Machine techniques for sewing free-form designs will be demonstrated. Use of color and value will be a major focus.

For more information about Caryl and to view her work, visit her web site at www.bryerpatch.com.

The cost of the workshop will be $345, $395 for non-members, including lunch (not including housing and other meals). A non-refundable registration fee of $50 will hold your spot. Please contact Cindy Vough for more details:
