DESIGN SEMINAR 2007
Carol Taylor, Instructor
|
| |
The KHQS Design Seminar 2007 will be taught by internationally known art quilter Carol Taylor, of Pittsford, New York. Carol is a very inspiring teacher, and participants will undoubtedly leave her Seminar with more ideas and techniques than they can use in a year. |
| |
Carol approaches her quiltmaking with intensity and a seemingly boundless energy. Vibrant colors, striking contrasts, use of value, as well as heavy machine quilting and embroidery, distinguish Carol’s quilts. She has created over four hundred fifty quilts since she began quilting in 1993. |
| |
Carol’s quilts have won numerous awards, including five Best of Show ribbons with five different quilts! In 2005 alone, she won twenty-two major prizes. She has won awards at the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Show and Contest in Paducah, Kentucky, the International Quilt Festival in Houston, Texas, and the Quilters’ Heritage Celebration in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, among others. |

The KHQS Design Seminar will be held a bit early in 2007 ( September 24-27, 2007) to accommodate Carol’s schedule. The Seminar will be held at the Catherine Spalding Retreat and Conference Center, at Nazareth, Kentucky (two miles north of Bardstown).
- The Seminar will begin on Monday, September 24, with an afternoon of “Free Motion Quilting” from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. That evening, Carol will present a lecture entitled “Working in a Series.”
- On Tuesday, September 25, Carol will teach a one-day “Designing with Cutouts” workshop, which is a paper design process to encourage participants to think about design and relationships in their artwork.
- On Wednesday, September 26, Carol will teach “Sensuous Lines and Curves,” which employs wonderful flexible shapes that would enhance nearly any quilt.
- Finally, on Thursday, Carol will teach her “Going in Circles” workshop.

Basically, we will have four workshops for the price of one. Participants may not leave DesignSeminar with a finished work, but they will leave with an amazing collection of techniques that can be applied to their individual unique quilts. A registration form appears on the opposite page. |
