QUILT ARTISTS OF KENTUCKY AT BEREA CRAFT FESTIVAL

On July 13-15, The Quilt Artists of Kentucky were invited to have a double booth at the prestigious Berea Craft Festival at historic Indian Fort Theatre. The purpose of the booth was to do demonstrations, to educate, to promote our organization and summer activities of quilters in the area.  We also were asked to have quilts that were available for sale.

Five QAK volunteers worked each day and all five talked nearly nonstop to interested fair goers.  We were able to promote our annual exhibit "Quilts With A Kick", talk to quilters or "wanna be" quilters about KHQS  along with QAK and KHAS info.  Many membership forms were handed out.

Sandy Chowning and Lila Bellando are the Craft Festival coordinators and owners.  Both visited our booth each day and stated how pleased they were with our display.  Three larger pieces did sell along with  several small art quilts and objects d’art.  Yes, it was hot at times.  Yes, set up and take down took lots of good arms and legs. Yes, those who participated felt great about the weekend.

QAK members who had art quilts on display were:  Janet Serrenho,
Cindy Vough, Karen Riggins, Jenny Perry, Kathy Johnson, Betsy Terrill, and Pat Jennings.  QAK members who worked were Janet Serrenho, Karen Riggins, Jenny Perry, Kathy Johnson, Veda (Doodles) Woodward, Barbara Taylor, and Pat Jennings.  A special thank you goes to my husband, Spot Jennings, for his loading and unloading skills, the use of his truck, and his undying support of the quilters in his life.

Our booth was so well received that we have already been invited back for next year. Now is a good time to plan on this venue to exhibit your work, possibly to sell your work, and to educate others about our common passion.
