The Quilt Artists of Kentucky sponsored two workshops by nationally known artist and teacher, Hollis Chatelain on April 21 and 22,2007 in Berea, Kentucky. Hollis spoke at the Berea College Convocation where she unveiled her newest piece featuring Desmond Tutu. The College also exhibited seven of Hollis’s art quilts in the Dorothy Tredenick Art Gallery. |

Hollis chooses themes of national and international concern like precious water, peace, human rights, celebrating diversity, etc. to depict in her work. She hopes to gather a body of work to be exhibited as a collection in museums and other venues to promote these vital themes.

The workshops were totally filled with twenty participants each included Dye Painting on Fabric and Quilting as a Third Dimension. The quilt artists who took these intense workshops were very pleased with their experiences. Many reported wanting more workshop opportunities of this kind.
