Change in Annual Show Policy

 

After much consideration and discussion, the Board has decided not to hold an Annual Show in the 2010-2011 fiscal year. The cost of publicity was out of proportion to the attendance numbers. The Annual Show has always drawn the bulk of its attendance from the local area - one reason that we began moving it around the state every few years. In addition, the chairmen have had to beg for quilts for the past several years.

The Board has decided to spend that money in a way that will allow us to reach more people across the state. Each affiliate guild who has a local quilt show may request a $50 prize allowance from KHQS. This money may be used as a Viewer's Choice award, as a category winner award or as door prizes - however the affiliate guild chooses to use it.

Our one request is that KHQS membership brochures are available at the show for attendees and, if room allows, that KHQS be given a chance to display the Opportunity Quilt & KHQS merchandise for sale.

Requests for the "Show Allowance" should include the guild name, contact name (with address, phone and email), the name of the show, dates, times and location (complete with address). Requests should be mailed to Membership Chairman Glenna Smith at 117 Yorkshire, Lawrenceburg, KY 40342 or to membership@khqs.org.
